Love is in the Air...

It was such a fun week at Park River with our Valentine's Day celebrations! I enjoy planning and coordinating the events so much and I hope our residents and families enjoy them as much as we do. I tend to be a little over the top with the Valentine's Day decorations, but I think it makes our care center cheerful! I believe it brightens their spirits on those gloomy winter days.

We had an amazing time at our Sweetheart's Dinner for our married couples on Long Term Care this year! We had 17 couples attend. Can you believe that one of our couples has been married for 73 years? That is incredible!

I wanted the atmosphere to feel intimate, personal and cozy for our couples. I was thrilled to have one of my favorite musicians, Lynn Brownell, entertain our residents. She is an amazing jazz singer and pianist who has performed all over the country. She was absolutely perfect for this event. Check her out online @ www.lynnbrownellmusic.com.

Our Administrator, Tom Pollock, grilled Ribeye steaks (outside, in zero degree weather) for all the residents on Long Term Care and those staying with us temporarily in our Transitional Care Unit. He said the weather wasn't "that bad" because he was bundled up in layers. Warm clothes or not, it was absolutely frigid outside and he bared the elements for almost 3 hours to make sure our residents had a special meal. I think it truly shows how big his heart is & how much he cares for our residents.

Thank you to Olivia Alveshere from ABC Newspapers for coming out to celebrate our residents with us! I look forward to her article in the paper about our event! Look for it online at www.abcnewspapers.com!

Our 2017 King & Queen of Hearts were crowned on Friday. These residents were selected by popular vote by both staff & residents. This year, Will & Eleanor Swanson will reign for 2017, along with our runners up, Ken Johnson & Helen Johnson! A special thank you to Forever Floral for donating the beautiful arm bouquets and boutonnieres. Congratulations to all of you!

February is coming to an end and I am starting to coordinate our spring events. I'm looking forward to having as many activities as possible outdoors. I don't think anything can beat warm sunshine, birds singing and fresh air for our residents!

Stay tuned! ;-)
