Fall Festivities!

It was so nice to see so many families and staff at our picnic this year! We couldn't have asked for better weather and the food and music was great! The residents look forward to seeing their family members and being able to spend quality time with them. Thank you to everyone who came and to all the staff who helped out.

I mentioned in our previous blog that the Foundation's goal was to raise $2,000 with our Gift Basket Fundraiser for the Resident Council Foundation. I am so thrilled to announce that we surpassed our goal, raising almost $2,400! The money raised through all of our fundraisers pays for entertainment, leisure supplies, family nights, special events and other items that enhance the quality of life of the residents of Park River. Thank you so much to all those who took part in our fundraiser and for supporting the Resident Council Foundation!

October is always a fun month for events with our Trick or Treat Event and our Halloween Costume Party. As with any event at Park River, all family members, friends and staff are welcome and encouraged to come! I highly recommend bringing in a costume for your loved one to wear for our special events throughout the month! If you know of a resident who wants to have a costume but doesn't have the means to obtain one, please let me know by email asap. We want to make sure every resident has the opportunity to dress up if they would like to!

Our 13th annual Trick or Treat Event will be held on October 21st @ 2:00. For those who have not attended yet, families and staff gather in the Chapel around 1:45 and as a group, parade through the halls in costume and collect candy from our residents. All residents are provided donated candy to hand out and most like to dress up in costume as well! Plan on arriving early, we usually have around 80 kids trick or treating and we want to make sure everyone gets a chance to participate. If you would like to donate candy for this event, there will be drop boxes in the main lobbies for both LTC and TCU in the next few weeks.

We will be celebrating Halloween at our costume party on October 27th @ 2:00 this year. We will have live music by one of my favorite performers, Lynn Brownell! She specializes in jazz music, but also plays a little bit of everything! Also, we will be serving cocktails, hors d'ouvres and raffle prizes! Costumes are also encouraged on Halloween which is on the following Tuesday.

There are so many fun activities coming up in the next few months for residents and families! I definitely recommend our Halloween events, which are fun for all ages. Hope to see you all there! ;-)
