That much closer to Spring!

The only part I like about taking down the beautiful decorations for Christmas is that it means we are that much closer to warmer, Spring weather! I've never been a fan of cold weather, and I don't have any hobbies that involve snow....except escaping it to warmer destinations. The best way to beat the winter blues is having things to look forward to.

While Spring weather feels like it is a long ways away...we only have 2 1/2 weeks left in January, February is a short month and once St Patrick's Day comes, we are in the home stretch. In the mean time, lets think about the fun events February has in store for our residents...

We will be having our annual Sweetheart's Dinner on February 8th @ 12 noon. This dinner is for couples on Long-Term Care. We will be serving a romantic meal accompanied by music with Lynn Brownell. Our administrator Tom will be grilling Ribeye steaks for all of our residents on Long-Term Care and our Transitional Care Unit. If your spouse resides in LTC, look for your invitation in the mail in the next week!

February 9th will be our Coronation for the 2018 King & Queen of Hearts of Park River. One male and one female resident are selected by popular vote to reign for the year. The crowning will take place @ 2:30 in the MDR. This event always brings in a large crowd, so make sure to arrive early! Staff and residents are able to cast their votes beginning February 1st. Ballots will be located at the main desk in LTC through February 8th.

Fat Tuesday is on February 13th, and what better way to celebrate than with a party?! Our Mardi Gras Party will be @ 2:00 and filled with lots of fried foods, sweets and cocktails! Residents are encouraged to dress in bright colors and their Mardi Gras masks they will be making on February 6th. Ash Wednesday falls on Valentine's Day this year and Chaplain Sherree will be doing a service in the Chapel at 7:00.
